Movement Training

Our mission at Physical Edge is two-fold:

First, to provide our patients with the highest quality rehabilitation services that focus not only on removing someone’s pain, but also removing the true cause of their symptoms.

And second, to provide our members and community with facilities and services that help them reach their fitness goals with an emphasis on injury prevention.

Movement Training Article

Our Functional Movement Training program follows the Functional Movement System (FMS) model of movement correction for rehabilitation and training. Our entire rehabilitation team is certified in FMS. FMS is used around the world in training centers and rehabilitation clinics. The FMS system is also widely used by countless professional and college sports teams and programs.

The bottom line is that restoring normal movement patterns in the body is essential to fully recovering from injury as well as minimizing risk for injury with fitness and athletic activities. The Functional Movement Training program is all about restoring normal movement patterns. The focus of the program is on moving well, and then moving often.

Our program involves Assessment, Correction, and Training.

The program begins by taking each participant through a comprehensive assessment that evaluates how the individual moves. During the assessment, areas where someone is not moving well (impairments) are identified.

Once an individuals impairments are identified, a plan of corrective exercises is created. We then provide the needed equipment, training, and supervision to take the participant through their corrective exercises.

When appropriate, we add in training exercises to help the participant meet their fitness goals.

If you are coming to us with pain or an injury, you will need to make an appointment with one of our Physical Therapists.  The first visit takes about an hour and can be made M-F between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm.  The cost  of the initial assessment is $175.  In some situations, an individual may be able to use their PPO insurance plan to pay for this assessment.  Once the assessment is completed, these individuals will be able to attend the subsequent training classes as described below.

The training sessions consist of mobility and stability corrective exercises directed at restoring normal functional movement. When appropriate, individuals will progress toward strength and conditioning exercises designed to meet their fitness and athletic goals.

This class is $20/session.

The current training schedule is:

Monday’s from 4:00-5:00 PM with                                                   Instructor Mike Kwong, PTA
